Exeter has received funding for both police and street marshal patrols.

A new Community Safety Team launched in Exeter as a result of the hotspot policing initiative.

Collective investment by InExeter, the city’s business improvement district, and Exeter City Council has made the project possible. Collaboration between the CCTV control room, Exeter’s neighbourhood policing team, Exeter Business Against Crime (EBAC) and the new Community Safety Team will make a real difference to the city centre.

Exeter Inspector Nathan Johnson

“Hotspot policing will enhance our aims for Exeter City Centre of people, places and partnerships by marginalising the perpetrators of crime and ASB (people), reclaiming contested spaces (places) and building local networks (partnerships).

Using data to accurately diagnose the problem and to identify places we can deploy the proven evidence-based tactic of hotspot policing. At is most basic, police officers and PCSOs on foot in our most prolific areas will make a difference.”
