Penzance

Following a successful summer of hotspot policing, Penzance will see continued police patrols aimed at enhancing community safety and reducing crime.

Initially, Penzance’s funding covered street marshal patrols but due to high demand over the busy summer season, this was expanded to include daily police foot patrols. The positive impact of this uplift has enabled further funding to extend police hotspot patrols through March 2025.

The patrols aim to proactively disrupt crime and act as a deterrent, as well as providing a reassuring presence to help people feel safe.

The police are working closely with street marshals to share intelligence and engage with the community.

Thanks to Cornwall Council for their help in setting up and managing these patrols.

“Hotspot policing has been proven to work and it’s coming to Penzance! We understand that our communities want to feel safe and see high-visibility patrols in key areas within the town centre. We have been able to accurately map our hotspot areas using statistical data. By working in partnership to increase our patrols over the next 12 months, we will drive down crime and ASB in these areas.”
